Project Plan

Project Timeline

Overall Duration: 3 months to build prototype web portal and interactive data visualization, targeting the start of school in the Philippines (where Almera and Nirabhra live), giving students time to consider schools in Halifax to say hello to before September start of school in Canada.

Phases with Deliverables

Phase 1: MVP Development (Weeks 1-12)

  • Web portal for school admin/delegate accounts
  • Questionnaire submission system
  • Basic public-facing interface
  • Game logic and mechanics

Phase 2: Interactive Visualization & Polish (Weeks 6-12, overlapping)

  • Interactive map or globe showing hellos being sent
  • Mobile-friendly optimization
  • Accessibility improvements

Phase 3: Pilot Launch — Davao → Halifax

  • Davao City school → Halifax school hello exchange
  • Telemetry collection and monitoring
  • Feedback collection from pilot participants

Pilot Phase Details

Rationale

The game will start with a school in Davao City, Philippines, because that's where Almera and Nirabhra live. The first hello will be sent by students of a Davao school to a school in Halifax, Canada, where Mike lives.

This pilot launch gives: - Almera and Nirabhra's students time to consider schools in Halifax before the start of Philippine school year - Halifax students and schools time to prepare a thoughtful response before Canadian school year begins in September - The team a chance to test platform functionality and gather feedback in real conditions

Next Expansion

After the Davao → Halifax hello, schools will decide autonomously where hellos flow next, enabling organic network growth.

Key Milestones & Target Dates

Near-term (Pilot Phase)

  • Start of school in Philippines (trigger for fundraising urgency)
  • Start of school in Canada (September)

Long-term Expansion Goals

  • 193 schools / 1 per UN member country (estimated ~4 months at exponential growth)
  • Most concrete early victory milestone

  • September 21, 2028 — International Day of Peace

  • 2.5 years away, resonates with game's mission

  • January 24, 2030 — International Day of Education

  • 4 years away, aligns with SDG 4 deadline
  • Symbolizes "Can the world's schools say hello before the SDG 4 clock runs out?"

Success Criteria

  • Pilot exchange successfully completed (Davao → Halifax)
  • Platform stable and scalable for additional schools
  • 193 schools representing UN member countries connected
  • Positive feedback from participating schools and students
  • Research-quality telemetry collected and shareable
